Started with these.

First up: Driver’s side:

Apply liberal amounts of WD40 to bolts:

And wrench away!

After much wrenching with box-end wrenches:

The shock disappears!

Oh wait, there it is, right where I tossed it. Time for a new one!

After tightening up the top and bottom bolts and the zip tie for the shock boot, apply sticker, and then it’s off to the other side!

Now you see it...

...and now there’s a new one!

But wait, there’s that third one, what’s it called? Oh, right.

The steering stabilizer, after 30 minutes of turning a nut through rust. A ratchet may have helped, but would have been impractical in this instance. Turn wrench, reposition, turn wrench, reposition, turn wrench...

And, after a little sledgehammering to get the old mounting post out of the linkage, the stabilizer is out!

New post installed.

New stabilizer mounted. Now, for the finishing touch...

New sticker! New shocks, truck handles great, no longer feels like the steering wheel is going to rip itself free from my grim (reaper? damn typo) grip when I’m driving down the road. Next up, trimming the zip ties, and getting new bushings for the front end. Eventually.

The pass-through ratchet, or the breaker bar? The breaker bar is a godsend for turning free a bolt that’s got years of rust holding it in place.

Nope, I leave that feat for the Gixxer community. I was better than that, I wanted more power so I poured Full Throttle in the tank of my Boulevard M50! Ha!

Then I wondered why everyone telling me to go full throttle told me I took what they said too literally...
